The Meeting was an activity of the WATERLAT Network. It was co-organized by the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology, Newcastle University – UK, and the National University of General Sarmiento (UNGS) – Argentina, with the support of the National Library of Argentina, the RAICES Programme of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation of Argentina, and theState University of Paraíba, Campina Grande, Brazil.
The meeting supported the Blue October Campaign against the commodification of water and the control of water by private corporations.
