2018 WATERLAT-GOBACIT Student Prize

The fifth call for applications to the WATERLAT-GOBACIT Student Prize was for dissertations approved between 1 January and 31 December 2017 and closed on 28 February 2018. We had 8 applications, 5 for the Masters Prize and 3 for the Doctoral Prize. We appointed an Evaluation Commission composed by academics from our Network and invited external evaluators. We provide below the details of the Evaluation Commission. The results of the competition were announced on 5 September 2018 during the IX International Meeting of the WATERLAT-GOBACIT Network.

Doctoral Prize 2018

Cindy Claudia McCulligh. Thesis title: “Sewer of progress: Industry and State in the pollution of the Santiago river, Jalisco, Mexico” (in Spanish). Masters Prize 2018

Alma Rosa Barranco Salazar. Thesis title: “Knowledges, values and social organization of community management of the Drinking Water System in Zothe, Huichapan, Hidalgo, Mexico” (in Spanish). Also, given the quality of the applications, the Editorial Commission decided to invite all other candidates to submit an article based on their thesis for publication in the Network’s Working Papers Series.
